Red ring with a white three alpha-numeric code (on right tarsus) and metal ring (on left or right tibia).

note 1 : ending letters can be : A, Z, Y, X, W, U, T). 

note 2 : the place of ringing is the Upper Rhine, north of Strasbourg (48°40'N,07°56'E) between the German village Rheinau-Freistett, Ortenaukreis Baden-Württemberg, Germany and the French village Gambsheim, Bas-Rhin, Elzas, France.

note 3 : from the year 2000 the first series starting with 01A till 99A are finished in 2000 and ringing will take place with 01Z rings from 2000 to 2002, then with 01Y from 2003 to 2008, and since 2008 with 01Z. The metal ring is also

* Upper Rhine Valley: 01A-99A, 01Z-99Z, 01X-99X, 01Y-99Y and 01W...
* Danube Valley : 01-99T and 01U-10U.
Soon 11U-99U and 01N-99N (or 01M-99M), because not used is S (confusion with 5), R (confusion with B, if we will use B), Q (not good to see) and O (confusion with 0).

White ring with a black four alpha-numeric code, starting letter 'N' followed by a colon (:), the numbers "1" or "2" and two letters .

note 1 : the birds are ringed on the city of Ceuta (Spain).

note 2 : four alpha-numeric code "N:1LL". "LL" are two letter starting for "NA".

note 3 : four alpha-numeric code "N:2LL". "LL" are two letter starting for "AA".

note 3 : since 1995 some 3600 birds have been ringed on the Medes Islands (Northeastern Spain).
