note 1 : Dark-blue rings with a two alpha-numeric code have already been used on Barnacle geese on > Gotland in 1992 and some smaller numbers in 1993-1996. Very few of these birds are still alive and there is no harm of overlap as these are two different populations.

note 2 : rings used on a UK population, Wales.
