Black ring with a white three alpha-numeric code (on right tarsus).

note 1 : used code is 1 letter and 2 numbers.

note 2 : during 1998 some 350 pulli have been ringed.

note 3 : from '98 on pulli are c-ringed on left tarsus and metal ringed on right tibia, while birds ringed during winter are c-ringed on right tarsus and metal ringed on left tibia.

note 4 : during summer 2000, in the colony of Oye Plage (France) 279 juv. Black-headed gulls have been ringed with a black ring.

Black ring with a white four alpha-numeric code : first letter 'P' follwed by three numbers.

note 1 : both adults and chicks of Black-headed Gulls were ringed at the coastal Lithuania in 2008-2013.

note 2 : project has been started by Vytautas Pareigis, who sadly passed away early april 2013 when reading gull rings.

note 3 : used codes are P000 till P999.

note 5 : the metal ring can be attached to both the tibia and the tarsus.

note 6 : in use at different sites in eastern parts of Germany.

note 2 : birds were ringed in Central, SW, N and NW Poland.

note 3 : all rings are to be read from bottom to top.

note 4 : the letter “T” could be from long distance misread as “1”.

note 1 : most of these rings will be used for gulls wintering in Croatia, mainly on Zagreb rubbish dump.
Some of them could be used on wintering Common Gulls (Larus canus).
