*silver ring (29mm. high) with a 4 alpha-numeric code : two letters and two numbers in 2 rows/superposed (on the left leg).

note 1 : in the five eastern federal states of Germany birds are ringed with this new type of ring on the left leg.

note 2 : rings are read/written with the four alpha-numerics after each other : used codes are AA00-AZ99, XA00-XV99 and soon XW00 to XZ99. Later the B-series will be used.

note 3 : an example: AA above, 11 below. In 2004 series AA and AB have been used ; appr. 150 nestlings are to be ringed annually for at least the next 10 years.
