note 1 : this design of ring usually used for Herring Gull, but some used for Great black-backed Gull also.

note 1 : birds ringed in Murmansk, Russia.

Red ring with a white 4 alpha-numeric code (starting letter 'H') and metal ring (on other leg).

note 1 : 2010 was HXxx used in DK, examples HX72, HX60.

note 2 : some rings of these codes are used in SH for Larus michahelis and Larus cachinans.

note 3 : rings are to be read from bottom to top, most rings have a “checkpoint”.

note 4 : most Larus marinus have yellow rings beginning with “H”, like H55T, see there.

note 5 : about 30 birds ringed per year since 2005.

note 1 : up to 2014, a total of 106 rings were delivered since 2000-2005.

note 2 : there can exist small text or check marks (spots) in the code, please, inform them also.

Dyed birds (red/pink) with rhodamine on neck/nape and breast.

note 1 : these gulls will be marked as part of a new project looking at gulls, landfills, local nature reserves and other sensitive areas.

note 2 : birds may be colour dyed with either Rhodamine (pink/red) or picric acrid (yellow) : these sightings should be sent to Andy Baxter at a.baxter@csl.gov.uk

Combination of rings  without code (on left or right tarsus or on left or right tibia).

note 1 : it is necessary to mark the age of the bird.

note 2 : the rings are small, pigeon-type.

note 3 : on left or right tibia is a metal Paris-ring.

note 1 : used colours are white, blue, yellow, black, orange, red, pale-green, green.

note 2 : project runs in Bretagne, France during the period 1981-1990.
