Green ring with a 2 alpha-numeric code code

note 1 : rings are placed above the knee (on the tibia) for better observation results in the colony (high vegetation) and on rubbish-dumps. All other colours (with vertical placed codes) above the knee are also part of this project.

note 2 : In some series  used dots (1.A), colons (1:A) or single or double bars (1|A or 1||A). Those additional marks are part of the code

note 3 : In some series is an additional plain marker present at the other tibia, this marker is part of the combination.

note 4: Same codes can be used by other large gull species. If you have doubts about the species and/or code, please note the age and position of all the rings, including the metal ring.

note 5: used letters/numers are : A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, J, K, L, M, N, P, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, + and =. Only the letters I, O and Q are never used

note 6: In this project are also used a combination of two coloured rings with both one letter or number at each tibia.

note 1 : four alpha-numeric code of which the last letter is always a "C", site identifier for Clyde, ringing area in Scotland.

note 2 : a colon (:) is always following the first three alpha-numeric code. For example : 1A1:C , 0Z0:C, ect...

note 3 : note used letters are : F, I, O and Q.

Dark-green ring with a white (vertical) three alpha-numeric code (letter/number/number OR number/letter/number).

note 1 : used codes from A00 to K99 and from L00 to Z99 and 0A0 tot 9Z9.

note 2 : c-ring is on right leg and CRBPO/metal ring on the left leg OR c-ring is on left tarsus and CRBPO/metal ring on the tight tibia. 

note 3 : birds were ringed in the islands of Chausey/Granville and Seine-Maritime coast, Normandy, France

note 4 : Series A was doubled, i.e. the same ring was applied to both tarsi to assess the rate of ring loss. Please when sending an observation of a bird with an A series ring, please specify whether the bird has a band on both tarsi or only one band.

note 2 : used code are 01E, 02E, ... , 99E, 01G, ...
note 3 : CRBPO metal ring on right leg ; the second project started in 2009 and still running with 577 gulls ringed.
