note 3 : 2012 : 30 chicks were individually colour-ringed and 2 were only metal-ringed in the last remaining (Gull-billed Tern) colony with 38 breeding pairs in northwestern Europe. The colony is located  in the southernmost saltmarshes at the Elbe river-mouth in the Wadden Sea Nationalpark of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In total approxemately 40 chicks grew up to some stage, but probably 20-30 had fledged only.
From late July to mid September 16 different young with colour-rings had been observed in the Netherlands as well as a few unringed young. In early September 2 cr-young were observed at the coast of northern Spain already.

note 4 : late June 2007 : a total of 67 chicks were colour-ringed in one session in the last remaining (Gull-billed Tern) colony with 35 breeding pairs in northwestern Europe in the southernmost saltmarshes at the Elbe river-mouth in the Wadden Sea Nationalpark of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. 91 chicks were recorded in total. Unfortunately, due to very stormy weather, almost all chicks did not survive the storm. Just one colour-ringed chick was recorded later in summer in the Dutch Wadden Sea at a traditional roost of Gull-billed Terns. In 2011 a second cr-bird of the 2007 ringing-session showed up in the german colony and obviously survived the storm in 2007 as well !

note 5 : no birds ringed during 2018.
