Eagles
Yellow ring with a black three alpha-numeric code.
note 1 : all birds are also marked with a GPS-satellite transmitter.
note 2 : also ‘Abels’ (second hatched chicks) are marked which normally do not survive because of ‘Cainism’ but which are reared in captivity for five weeks and return to their nests just before fledging in order to increase the breeding success. Also a long term program of nesting management is started and within the scope of an even bigger program to stop the decrease of this very threatened bird in Germany.
note 3 : since 2000 ten adult birds are satellite tagged. Nestlings are colour-ringed since 2004 in Germany.
note 4 : in 2005 a nestling (genetically a hybrid) of the only mixed in Germany A. pomarina (male) and A. clanga (female) was colour-ringed and satellite tagged.
