Single dark blue ring on right tibia, 1 or 2 colour rings on left tarsus, no ring or 1 colour ring on right tarsus and metal ring on left tibia.

note 1: Blue ring on right tibia is unique to this scheme

note 2: this project began in 1992 to compare the behaviour of two populations of common ringed plover ; one breeding on the river habitats of Strathspey in Central Highlands of Scotland and the other in coastal habitats at Achiltibuie in Wester Ross on the north-west coast of Scotland.

note 3: Colour rings normally combination of red, orange, yellow, white, pale green, green, pale blue, blue, black.
