* 1 (tall) white ring with black code (letter 'A' or letter 'C') [on right tibia]
* 2 c-rings [on left tibia]
* metal ring [on right tarsus].

note 1 : birds are ringed on their breeding grounds on the Shetland Isles, UK as part of a project by RSPB to understand the causes of population decline. The project began in summer 2010 (when 23 birds were ringed) and is continuing in 2011.

note 2 : used cololurs are red, yellow, dark-blue, dark-green, white, black and orange.
