Combination of an engraved (red) anodized aluminium ring with 3 alpha-numeric code and a metal ring.

note 1 : this scheme is coordinated by the Institut Català d'Ornitologia : ICO,http://www.ornitologia.org/ca

* red rings with white code : Catalonia (2008-2015),  Balearic Islands (2015).
* blue rings with white code : Andalucía (2011).
* green rings with white code: Castilla y León (2011-2015), Castilla La Mancha, Madrid, Navarra, La Rioja  (2015)
* black rings with white code: Comunidad Valenciana (2015).

Other colours/areas that are not used at all but that we plan to be used in the future are :
* green rings with white code : Euskadi, Aragón.
* blue rings with white code : Extremadura.
* brown : Portugal (not confirmed).
* violet : France (not confirmed).

note 2 :  the background of the rings is red, and the codes are in silver (from far seems white). The codes consist of two alphanumeric characters which must be read from top to down.

note 3 : during 2008 all birds were marked with a colour ring on right leg, and a conventional metal ring on left leg. We plan to go on with this scheme in the future, although the leg used for the colour ring will be changed every year.

note 4 : during spring 2008 a ringing scheme on Bonelli's eagle (Hieraaetus fasciatus) started in Catalonia (NE Spain) with 31 chicks ringed.

note 5 : this scheme is a part of a monitoring scheme on this species imitated in the 80s. Formerly, 122 chicks were ringed during the years 1986-1993.
