note 1 : rings have been used in '94 and from '97 onwards (except '01).
note 2 : in 1994 296 rings have been used in Ukraine (in collaboration with Antonina Rudenko).
note 3 : from 1997 on, black rings have been used in Greece (in collaboration with Vassilis Goutner) and Turkey (in collaboration Suhendan Karauz).
note 4 : from 1998 onwards, black rings have been used in Ukraine (in collaboration with Antonina Rudenko (Black Sea Biosphere Reserve), Valery Siokhin and Alexander Matsyura (Sivash).
note 5 : due to bad meteorological conditions, all Med. Gull colonies of the Black Sea Biosphere Reserve have been destroyed; hence no colour-ringing has been performed in 2001 in Ukraine. Other reasons prevented Med. Gulls from being colour-ringed in Turkey and Greece in 2001. New colour-ringing activities are planned in these countries in 2004.
note 6 : during summer 2006 in Greece 140 birds have been ringed by Vassilis Goutner ; code is 2 letters and 2 numbers.
note 7 : during summer 2008 in Greece 57 young birds were ringed by Vassilis Goutner ; code is a country-code “4” followed by three numbers.

note 1 : following codes are reserved : 
black rings with the code “U-cipher -letter-cipher” using the following letters :  J, K, L, N, P, R, T, V, X.
Black rings with the code “T-cipher-cipher-cipher” starting with T701.
Black rings with the code “4-cipher-cipher-cipher” starting with 4601.
Black rings with the code “K-cipher-cipher-letter” using the following letters : E, H, J, K, L, N, P, R, T, V, X.
Black rings with the code “7-cipher-cipher-cipher” starting with 7101.
