Since 1977 the juvenile White-tailed Eagle in following European countries are ringed with different colourrings on both legs.

The right one stands for the country:
Blue : Norway ; Green : Sweden, Lapland ; Black: Sweden, Baltic coast ; Black and white : Suomi, Lapland (two different areas) ; Red/red, white/red, and black : Suomi, Baltic coast (three different areas) ; without colour, that means silver : Poland ; yellow : former German Democratic Republic (1981 till 1990) ; orange : Federal Republic of Germany (since 1990 reunited Germany) ;

The colour on the left leg shows the age :
1977 : orange ; 1978 : blue ; 1979 : red ; 1980 : black ; 1981 : silver means without colour ; 1982 : black ring over red ; 1983 : orange ring over blue ; 1984 : red ring over silver ; 1985 : black ring over blue ; 1986 : blue ring over white ; 1987 : red ring over black ; 1988: blue ring over orange ; 1989 : red ring over white ; 1990 : blue ring over black ; 1991 : silver ring over blue ; 1992 : orange ring over red ; 1993 : black ring over white ; 1994 : red ring over blue ; 1995 : black ring over orange ; 1996 : orange ring over white ; 1997 : red ring over orange ; 1998 : white ring over black ; 1999 : blue over red ; 2000 : orange over black.
