note 3 : Our young birds are ringed with a code starting with the year and then a serial number. e.g. 1201= was ringed in 2012 and is the first stork we ringed.  If more than 99 birds are ringed, the last two digits are replaced by a letter. e.g. 20B is a bird ringed in 2020 and is the 101st bird ringed that year.  When we receive adult birds that are not ringed they are ringed with a code black/yellow ring with 3 digits on it.
