Mute Swan

White neckband with a black four alpha-numeric code (starting letter 'M' and letter/number/number).

note 1 : the objective of this program is to study the migration routes of the Mute Swans wintering in Greece. The program is developed in the framework of the avian influenza monitoring program.

note 1 : birds are ringed in North-West England, in the counties Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and the Isle of Man.

note 2 : used codes are : 4AA - 4ZZ, A4A - Z4Z, 6AA - 6ZZ, AAA - SZZ. in addition A01 - A99, B01-B99, C01-C99 … to Z01-Z99.are used in the Isle of Man.

note 1 : all these birds were ringed on South Warwickshire in a ten mile radius of Stratford on Avon.

note 1 : all these birds were ringed on the south coast of England. 

White neckband with a black four alpha-numeric code, first letters 'IB' followed by two numbers OR two letters.

note 1 : new project, started in summer 2005 and run by the Stazione Biologica Isola della Cona: 45 birds (IB24-IB73) were neckbanded at the Foce dell’Isonzo Nature Reserve and in the Grado-Marano Lagoon (Northern Adriatic, Italy); in summer 2006 135 birds (IB74-IB99; IBAA-IBKA) were neckbanded in the same sites.
