Dark-green legring with a four alpha code (starting letter "Y").

note 1 : after the "Y" a 'dot' is to be found followed by three letters.

note 2 : birds ringed (irrespective of sex and age) near Ijmuiden, The Netherlands.

note 3 : steel ring on opposite tibia or tarsus

note 4 : some are (presumed) hybrids Lesser Black-backed Gulls x Yellow-legged Gull.

Red ring with a white 4 alpha-numeric code : starting letter 'S' followed by a colon = : and number/number/number) (on left tarsus) and metal ring (on right tarsus).

note 2 : project begun in 2011 to study survival of rescued / rehabilitated Herring and Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Secret World Wildlife Rescue, East Huntspill, Somerset. England.

note 3 : the rings are 35mm tall with an internal diameter of 11mm for Herring.

Yellow ring with a 4 alpha-numeric code (starting letter 'T' followed by a colon and two numbers and one letter (on left leg) and metal ring (on right leg). 

note 1 : birds ringed n North East Scotland.

note 2 : starting 2011, 310 birds have been ringed by early 2014.

note 1 : birds are coming out of 2 or 3 revalidation-centers.
note 2 : project is intended to run for 5 years minimum.
note 3 : mostly pulli of L. michaellis, but some on L. fuscus.
note 4 : some birds are ringed with as well c-ring as metal ring on the same leg.
