note 1 : also a project : first letter “P:" followed by and three numbers or letters or a combination of them OR three numbers or letters or a combination of them before last letter “:P"

note 2 : if the code starts with ‘PA’ or ‘PB’ write to ring@miiz.waw.pl (Polish birds); if the code starts with ‘PZ’ write to grechuta@miiz.waw.pl (Russian birds). In both cases you receive full life-history.

note 3 : used letters are A, B, C, D, E, H, K, L, N, P, S, T, U, V, X, Z (PAAA to PZZZ).

note 4 : first birds were ringed in the 2009 season.

note 5 : rings and code used on Yellow-legged Gull, Caspian and Herring Gulls as well as on their hybrids.

note 6 : codes starting with ‘PZ’ were used in European Russia on Herring and Caspian Gulls and hybrids.

note 2 : in 1995 : metal ring (left tarsus) and a yellow ring with black letter B. in 1996,1997,1998 (on right tarsus) : yellow ring with 3 black letters (on left tarsus) and metal ring (on right tarsus).

note 3 : the letters E, I, O and Q were not used.

note 4 : first letter was X or Y from 2016 to 2020.

note 5 : first letter was P from 2020 to 2023.

note 6 : first letter was J from 2023 onwards.

note 7 : since 2020, rings started by N, G, H and K were used in colonies from Deserta/Barreta and Culatra Islands (Ria Formosa Natural Park).

note 1 : during 2009 we plan to ring pulls in three colonies along the coast of Cantabria : Mouro Island and Santa Marina Island in the Bay of Santander, and San Pedro Island in Noja.

note 1 : breeding birds are ringed around Crete, Greece. Early June ’08 some 400 birds could be ringed. The rest during the coming years.

note 2 : 100 of them (H900-H999) have been send to Hellenic Ornithological Society (Hellenic Ringing Scheme / Filios Akriotis) and birds will be ringed in colonies near Athens.

note 3 : 107 chicks of YLGs have been ringed with white colour rings (Η000-Η095&
Η100-Η110) (on left tarsus) on the island of Dia, near Heraklion, Crete on 4-6 June. The metal ring on the right tarsus.

note 1 : 1000 fledglings ringed in breeding colonies near Athens, Greece, May 2009. Another 750 fledglings were ringed in breeding colonies near Athens, Greece, in May 2010.

note 3 : a total of 512 chicks have been ringed with both darvic ring on tibia and metal ring on the site Salses-Leucate lagoon.

note 4 : as the Excel database runs out of possibilities, a new database [SGBDR or Système de Gestion de Bases de Données Relationnel] will be produced by the IUT de Carcassone. The database will be finished by the end of June 2004 and only from that moment your resightings will be send.

note 5 : distribution and amount of rings placed in the Languedoc-Roussillon : 1999, Leucate, 509 ; 2000, Lattes, 13 ; 2000, Leucate , 853 ; 2002, Canet-en-Roussillon, 9 ; 2002, Leucate, 945 ; 2003, Fitou, 296 ; 2003, Lattes, 1209.
