note 1 : do please pay attention to the colon “R:” as this is very important.

note 2 : the birds are ringed on the Nature Reserve of Lilleau Niges,  Re Island, Charente Maritime department, France.

* not used letters : B, E, I, O, Q, S, Z.
* the project runs in Gipuzkoa, Spain but also in Bizkaia and Navarra.

* since 2021 : used codes are : NNL:G, then LNL:G, LLN:G, NLL:G. where N is number and L is letter.
Important : are not used : the letters H, U or A when a letter starts the code.

* since 2024 used codes is LNL:G.

Red ring with a white 4 alpha-numeric code (letter 'P' into the code).

note 1 : gulls are ringed since 2012 in central and southern Poland as either breeding adults or chicks.

note 2 : species are L. argentatus (mainly central Poland), L. cachinnans, L. michahellis (mainly southern Poland) and hybrids between these three (everywhere). One L. fuscus and two hybrids L. fuscus x L. argentatus have also been ringed.

note 3 : there are quite many hybrids, not always possible to identify in the field, so please take a digiphoto if possible.

White ring with a blue four alpha-numeric code (3 numbers followed by a colon (:) and ending letter "S"). 

note 1 : birds ringed in Slovakia (ending letter "S").
note 2 : during 2012 60 pulli Larus cachinnans and 1 Larus michahellis were ringed.

note 1: used codes are IAAA-IJKK at the Tyrrhenian Sea and Sardinia (1996 to 2001).

note 2 : ring to be read from bottom till top.

note 3 : some of these rings are quite worn out so the first letter I is very difficult or not readable anymore (see pictures).
