Orange ring with a blue three alpha-numeric code : number-letter-number.

note 1 : used codes are number-letter-number. Starting from 1 to 8.

note 2 : the ring plate measures 65mm. x 35mm. and the code is 3x engraved.

note 3 : the project runs since 2003 and is coordinated by Gustavo Ballestros (ANSE, Murcia, SE Spain).

note 1 : used codes : M:001...M:999.

Yellow ring with a white four alpha-numeric code (starting letter 'H') (on one leg) and metal ring (on other leg). 

note 1 : rings are to be read from bottom to top, most rings have a “checkpoint”.

note 2 :  birds are ringed with combinations like H234, H4A4 etc.

note 1 : during 2010 the code HXxx was used, where x stands for alpha-numeric.

note 2 : rings are to be read from bottom to top, most rings have a “checkpoint”.

White ring with a black four alpha-numeric code : 
3 numbers followed by a colon (:) and ending letter "U") (on right tarsus) and metal ring (on left tarsus).

note 1 : used codes are 001:U - 999:U

note 2 : the ring 001:U incorrectly on the left tarsus!

note 3 : species are Larus cachinnans and Larus michahellis.

note 4 : birds are also ringing in mixed colonies. Chicks species identification is often impossible, so please digital photos are appreciated.

* metal ring (on right tarsus)

 

note 1 : used codes are the letters E, I, O and Q and additionally, to avoid the remote possibility of any confusion with YLG in Spain, codes will not start with the letter B.

note 2 : scheme site identifier is letter 'T' (for Thames) (as last letter).

note 1 : used codes are Y:001 - Y:999.

Red ring with a white four alpha-numeric code, starting letter 'U' (on right leg) and metal ring.

note 1 : starting letter 'U', followed by a number and two letters.

note 2 : this is the only species of which pulli are ringed.

Dark-green ring with a white four alpha-numeric code : (letter (Z) /letter (L, S, R) /number / letter).

note 1 : first is the letter is 'Z' , code for Galicia.

note 2 : second is the letter 'L, S, R' , code for the colony : Illas de San Pedro/St. Peter Islands, A Coruña, Galicia Spain.

note 3 : third is a number and fourth a letter.

note 4: we ringed Larus michahellis chicks up to 2014.

note 5 : rings are with second letter M or N. Any old birds with ZA, ZB and ZN are living yet.
