note 1 : since 2006 : 0AAA to 0ZZZ (only on the first 400 rings the zero has a dot in the middle : bad idea, everybody read it as 'B', so  -from 0CAA on- the zero is a real zero.

note 1 : in the Po Delta area (N. Italy) from 1990-1994 the used codes are from A02 till Y99 (project by R. Santolini, total ringed 664 ringed pulli). Details : A02-B06 , 1990 ; B07-B78 and C01-C99 , 1991 ; B80-B99 and S01-S99 , 1992 ; H00-H99 and X02-X99 , 1993 ; X01-X98 and Y01-Y99 , 1994. Pay attention , rings starting with X and Y can be very easily misread.

note 2 : in the Margherita di Savoia salines (S. Italy) the used codes are:
IAAA-IABH (1195, 22 pulli) , IABS-IADK (1996, 34 pulli) , IADL-IBCS (1997, 163 pulli ). Project by A. Magnani and N. Bacetti. No birds have been ringed in 1998-2000 (zero breeding success). A few chicks were only metal-ringed in 2001.

note 3 : in the Po-delta area, codes used for chicks in 1998-2001 are as follows : 1998 : ICAA-IDZZ, Saline di Cervia (449 birds) ; IBCT-IBDJ, Saline di Comacchio (9 birds).; 1999 : IFAA-IFAZ, Salina di Cervia (14 birds) ; IFAZ-IFJZ , Valli Bertuzzi (91 birds) ; IFKB-IFNZ, Saline Commacchio (43 birds) ; IFPA-IFVC, Valli Comacchio (47 birds) , IFVD-IHDZ, Pialassa Baiona (86 birds).
2000 : IHPA-IHTV , IHZA-IHZV , IJAA-IJAZ , IJLA-IJSZ, IJTN-IJVF, Saline Cervia (128 birds) ; IJBA-IJDH, Saline Comacchio (36 birds), IHVA-IHVZ, IJDJ-IJKZ,IJTA-IJTL,IJZA-IJZZ, Valli Comacchio (10 birds).
2001 : IKPB-ILAZ, Saline di Cervia (86 birds).

note 4 : codes IBDK-IBSZ were used by A. Talamelli on118 adults trapped 1998-2001 along the Adriatic beaches and at the Saline do Commacchio. These birds partky belong to non-Italian populations, as shown by readings obtained from the Black Sea colonies.

note 5 : in 2007 a new country code has been used: 0 (zero) instead of I, followed by 3 letters (on 0A... and 0B... the zero has a dot in the middle).
